ASUNIM Embarks on a New Solar + Storage Project in Africa

ASUNIM and its consortium partner have achieved significant success by winning an international tender organized by the World Bank for a solar energy and storage system project worth 18 million USD in Somalia.

Within the scope of the project, a 10 MWp Solar Power Plant (SPP), a 20 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and a 9 km-long Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) will be constructed. Together with its U.S.-based and Somali partners, ASUNIM will carry out the engineering and procurement processes. This investment will strengthen Somalia’s energy infrastructure, contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals, and play a critical role in regional energy supply security.

A Reliable Partner in the Field of Storage
With the projects it has successfully delivered across different geographies, ASUNIM has already proven its strength in the international arena, and continues to be a reliable and preferred business partner in the field of energy storage in Turkey as well.

ASUNIM’s Strength in the International Arena
ASUNIM has proven its strength in the international arena with projects carried out across different continents, and has made significant investments especially in Turkey and the MENA region. Among these projects are: a 20 MWp solar power plant and a 35 MWh storage system for Elswedy Electric in South Sudan, a 2 MWp rooftop solar power plant for Siemens in Egypt, a 760 kWp rooftop solar power plant for the global food giant IFFCO, and a newly awarded 6 MWp solar power plant to be installed on a steel structure over the Beirut River in Lebanon, along with many other flagship projects.

In Turkey, ASUNIM maintains its leadership in hybrid projects with strong references. It has successfully completed hybrid solar projects integrated into more than 100 MW of wind energy for Akfen Renewable Energy and Sancak Energy, as well as an auxiliary source SPP with an installed capacity of 4.9 MWp at the Araç Dam hydropower plant site. In addition, the construction of a 42 MWp solar project to be integrated into a hydropower plant in Muş is ongoing.
